Luxury Yacht: Floating Five-Star Hotels
Luxury Yachts...
are like floating Five-Star Hotels where no
expense has been spared. Today's Super Yachts provide high speed connections,
plasma screen TVs with satellite, libraries of films, world class trained chefs
that prepare all your meals to your taste and desires, spa/fitness centers, and
every one the water "toys" possible like water sport, jet skis, wave-riders,
scuba gear, wind surfers and more.
All this luxury typically floats in one in every of the
world's paradises, be it the Caribbean Islands, Sardinia, Greece, Italy or
lesser known however equally seductive areas like Thailand/Southeast Asia,
Australia, South America or Africa. It's a common practice for super yacht to summer
in the Mediterranean then cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean and hop between
St Barth, St Lucia, St Martin, Bahamas
and Grenadines.
Luxury Yacht Types
There are 3 basic varieties of Luxury Super Yachts - Motor
Yachts (M/Y), Sailing Yachts (S/Y) and Catamarans. Barrington Hall has access
to 1,000s of luxurious yachts including catamaran sailing, power yachts and
even super yachts with a helicopter on board.
Catamarans are gaining popularity by providing the adventure
of sailing with wonderful accommodations, personal privacy and over the top luxury.
Catamaran sailboats do not
"tip" that makes the cruise smoother and easy to enjoy. With all the open spaces on board you can
enjoy nice views from the salon, decks and you are always ‘on the water’ not
stuck in a hotel with a static view.
See our choice of Luxury Crewed Catamarans
Within the yacht classification as described above they are
further broken by length (50-99 feet) 100 – 150 feet and over 150 each
containing a variety of cabins, manufacturers such as Benetti, Feadship,
Sunseeker, Wally, Rodriguez, propulsion systems (sail vs. motor).
How to Charter an excellent Yacht.
- How many are in your party?
- How many cabins are needed for children, adults, teens, etc.),
- What would you like to do on your vacation?
- What type of yacht do you want? Power yacht, motor yacht, sailboat, catamaran?
- What's your budget?
- When do you want to go?
Book Early. A good rule of thumb the simplest Yachts square
measure set-aside vi months or additional before. If you wish a Summer Yacht
within the Mediterranean you might want to begin 6 months or more and book as your yacht charter as soon as you can.
If you are looking for a yacht within the Caribbean for the Christmas, New Years or Easter time
frames, it is best to set up it throughout the summer. Do not set yourself up
for disappointment by waiting too long!
In addition to the cost of the actual charter, which covers
the yacht rental as well as the crew, you will need to allow for expenses while
you are on charter to cover fuel costs, food, dockage fees and taxes. This is
usually estimated at 30-35% of the charter.
To facilitate the management of those expenses, and build
trust, the yacht industry has adopted a system know in the trade as the Advance
Provisioning Allowance (APA). The yacht broken estimates the expenses that may
be incurred, counting on your itinerary and adds that on up front. This
provides a checking account for the yacht captain to pay for the expenditures on
your behalf and keeps accurate records.
This is a not a profit center for the yacht
owner and these expenses aren't marked up. At the close of the charter, you
will be provided with a detailed statement of expenses and you will be refunded
the balance.
Normally, you may be asked to pay 1/2 of the yacht rental at
signing the charter contract, with the balance due thirty days before the
charter begins. Understandably, the
charter can’t begin till all payments have been received.
Tipping isn't mandatory, however it is customary and at your
sole discretion to decide if the captain and crew should indeed receive a
tip. Many of our clients tip between 10%
and 20% of the costs of the charter.
Once the paperwork is out of the way, we’ll ask you to fill
out a preference form where you will tell the captain what you’d like to do,
where you like to go and what your food and beverage preferences while on your
vacation.
Stuff happens and you may find yourself in circumstances that
may require you to contract your yacht charter vacation. Once there is a fully
executed contract you are liable for the full costs of the charter. We suggest
that you buy trip insurance, and hope you don’t have to use it. We are able to assist you with the insurance
should you decide that you would like to insure your trip.

yet relaxing vacation you will have in your lifetime. Whether you want a super
yacht, catamaran sailboat a power boat we are ready to guide and assist you in the

Renting Yachts: Who Gets the Master Cabin?
Renting Yachts for Luxury Vacations
Who gets the master cabin?
You and your friends selected to charter a private mega yacht and you all have decided to take a luxurious yacht vacation in the Caribbean. Before the vacation begins it will be very important to answer to this very important question:
"Who get to stay in the master cabin while on the super yacht charter"?
"Who get to stay in the master cabin while on the super yacht charter"?
This question invariably comes up when a party of 5 couples gets together to pay for a private luxury power boat, like to the British Virgin Islands.
Naturally, each couple would like to share the costs equally, but often there are significant differences between the cabin sizes and amenities. The master cabin cannot be more different than single cabins, double cabins, California king and queen sized beds.
Why do they not make all the cabins
equal just to make our life easy? This same issue is true for Mediterranean power yachts,
Greece power yachts all over the
world. See detail below.

Guests simply
need to work out any which way they feel suites their party. Some draw straws
for their cabins, some pay more and some couples pay less for their cabins,
whatever works for your party is the right thing to do. So before your best
experience of your lives, work out between each other who is about to have which
cabin.
When private yachts are ordered the owner gives his requirements to what he wants to have on board his vessel.
Remember you are renting a very wealthy person's water toy and it is for the new owner for whom the
yacht is being manufactured.
Here are the instructions
usually given to the yacht manufacturers:
- We want a large cabin for ourselves the full width of the yacht plus, a his and hers bathroom with a tub and heated floor.

POV - Yacht Charter Broker
Chartering Yachts

| Underwater Delights |
As a captain for 5 years on board our own family-operated luxury catamaran my family and I got vital catamaran sailing experience. It is this expertise that brings a whole new world to the guests' yacht charter, no matter where that maybe. Guest question number one should be in deciding which charter broker should I select as there are a lot of yacht brokers out there.
The very first rule we made when we opened Barrington-Hall Yacht brokers in 1995 was that a real live person must answer the telephone morning, noon, or night 24/7. Service to our guests is in the forefront of our minds.

Having been a captain for many years means your vacation itinerary is going to be so much better than a broker who has no or very little experience operating or providing yacht charters.
All our guests enjoy the wonderful Baths, or the gorgeous Bitter End Yacht Club when on board their catamaran in the BVI (British Virgin Islands). Our guests get to see the 2 cannons in 10 feet of gin clear water resting on the seabed; snorkeling where red sea horses have been seen be on their charter during the prime week of each month (the full moon!) and to go to anchorages some captains have no idea even exist.

Our guests benefit by having the selection of the best one week of any month, the best one week of the entire year and we explain why they should be there doing those times. Some guests are unable to move their dates to suite these periods, but they are given the option to do so.
Experience gives Barrington Hall Yacht Charters the knowledge of knowing when the windy months of each year are, or when not to go to various islands, or which “is” the best month of the year and why. We do not subject guests to open ocean crossings, we guide all our guests to the right locations world-wide. We supply daily example itineraries we created the first daily itinerary to be in picture form and we also have the rest of the major locations in the world in picture formats as well.

Our charter industry is made up of many independent owners who also wish to rent their yachts. There are very few crewed yacht companies who purchase their own vessels for charter, have multiple yachts to charter. Almost every crewed charter yacht we work with is operated by the independent owner.
Most of the power boats that are over 100 feet are designed and built by a yacht company and the plans follow generally the same format. The owners' cabins are full bean with a large his and hers bathroom, TV, surround sound music, a/c controls and a large California king-sized bed to their cabin.
The guest VIP cabin is normally a king or Queen bed with all the options but one bathroom for their couple to use. Then there are likely two cabins with twin beds inside - one to sleep 2 children and one to sleep 2 bodyguards. So finding a power boat to charter over 100 feet with 4 equal cabins is generally not available.

Generally when owner’s wish to charter their yachts it is money they are after for one reason or another. Generally base their vessels in one of 4 major locations world-wide. The Caribbean, Bahamas, French Riviera and Greece. Chartering outside these locations means relocation costs for most vessels, or renting local vessels which do not meet industry standards.
Yes, many of these same owners want their yachts to go to different locations at various times of the year so that the owner and his family can enjoy different locations around the world. But by stepping outside the familiar charter locations will mean less business to offset their yacht expenses but more pleasure for yacht owners.

| French Riviera Yacht Charters |
The major change in Location is to go from the Bahamas to the French Riviera. These days most 200' foot yachts are loaded onto a ferry with as many as 18 other power boats and ferried across the Atlantic to the Antibes. A one way trip for a 110 foot power boat is about $100,000 and the major the reason for transporting them across the Atlantic Ocean is that power boats can not carry enough fuel to cross the Atlantic.
Also, there is the Bahamas to Newport Rhode, Island. Chartering yachts for guests is very different in the Bahamas and the Caribbean and your yacht charter broker should be able explain the ins and outs of the differences.
The crystal clear waters of the Bahamas and the Caribbean, which are about the same temperature as your body, allows 2-3 hours of snorkeling under water as well as all water sports everyday.

The crystal clear waters of the Bahamas and the Caribbean, which are about the same temperature as your body, allows 2-3 hours of snorkeling under water as well as all water sports everyday.
Not so with Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, or Nantucket where the water is so cold that generally no water sports are done. Usually, the emphasis being focused on exploring each individual island and taking in the deep American history related to these locations and then it is Back to the Bahamas. Then there are owners who want their yachts to do half way around the world or around the world trips allowing us to meet them in different locations to enjoy those out of the way locations without relocation costs.
The Barrington-Hall Yacht Corporation's staff attend 5-6 annual boat shows around the world and they are Greece, Caribbean, Antigua, Tortola and the US Virgin Islands. Plus we are likely to attend Genoa and the various boats shows in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
Almost all these charter boat yacht shows are for yacht charter brokers only and are not open to the public. Our aim is to inspect each charter yacht and we take our own pictures of all cabins, salons dining areas as well as meeting the crew and the captains of all the yachts. Our plan is to spend quality time with each vessel and crew to get to know them and their efficiencies.
Many of the captains invite us to enjoy meals on board so we can experience what they have to offer our guests and experince first hand their service. After the show we do have a fine idea of who the great teams are.
Good yacht charter brokers are well informed people who make sure they have the answers for the next year that their guests are likely to ask.
Taking a chance with our guest’s Caribbean Yacht Vacation is not something we intend to do. There are times when guests call too late to charter and all the better vessels have been booked, so they are forced to accept yachts we normally hold for second time around. New Year and Christmas weeks are generally such weeks. Booking for these individual 2 weeks means booking early which is 6-9 months ahead of time. Any other week and 4-6 weeks is normally fine, but booking early is always the way to go.
Owners look at Christmas and New Year week very differently, some owners are not serious about renting these important 14 days. These owners instruct their central agent that they want a full 14 days booked or they will enjoy spend the time on their yachts instead for chartering it out.
An alternative is for guests to have to pay for a mandatory minimum 10 nights over this 14 night period or again the owners might simply enjoy that time themselves. Booking guests a charter during these two weeks can be expensive and when guests request to book New Year after September there is likely to be very few available vessels out there. So charter your yacht vacation early!

Yacht Charter Brokers in the Virgin Islands.
Here is an article that we posted on our website describing the annual Yacht Broker Shows in the Virgin Islands. Both the British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands have their own shows that are run back to back.
We've included several of the luxury yachts are favorites of ours and often recommend to our clients. Also, we've listed several of our best-loved locations for walks about the Islands as well as a few 'honor bars' where you can quench your thirst!
Yacht Charter Brokers in The Virgin Islands
A Motor Yacht Playground
Annually
there are two charter luxury
yacht boat shows produced for brokers in the Virgin
Islands. One in the British Virgin Islands and the other in the US Virgin Islands. Motor yacht shows have been growing larger and larger, year after year. In these lush aquatic playgrounds of the Virgin Islands the mega yacht has become more and more prevalent as demand for luxurious yacht vacations continues to grow. These magnificent power yachts
are run by professional captains and extremely competent crew members. The crews and
captains live on board year round, with the yacht owner frequently asking the captain to
move to other island destinations once they have fully enjoyed the splendors of one
location.
The purpose in having annual yacht charter broker boat shows is to display an owners' super mega yacht to agents that can acquire customers to book a super yacht vacation or corporate event. A yacht charter group should inspect all the power yachts on display as well as meeting the
captain and crew members.
These shows for charter brokers, including Barrington-Hall allow them to discover which are the better vessels and are crewed with the better teams. Barrington-Hall has been chartering yachts since 1990 and have had many opportunities to have taken
our own pictures of all the yachts we charter as well as all the crew teams we
have met. Our goal is have a cadre of quality of motor yachts available for charters and we do not focus on just having a large quantity of just any yachts.
We are in an envious position to
show our guests current pictures of the crew as well as the vessels we represent.
Barrington-Hall is frequently invited by the motor yacht owners to enjoy a lunchtime meal or a super
luxury breakfast aboard these luxurious yachts. Invitations to sumptuous dinners have also been enjoyed on board a specific
yacht. The benefits are that we get to experience the level of service the crew provides. Additionally, we have enjoyed the excellent cuisine that our guests can expect to enjoy while on board there private yacht vacation. View this video to see the level of world class service and tantalizing foods available to please even the most discriminating pallets during your stay on board:
Of course the
large power yacht may well have the better cuisine on board but here is a delightful entry
level power boat with a wonderful captain and a magnificent chef on board. The Flame is 65 feet long and is a magnificent vintage power yacht that we enjoyed immensely. So surprised by the quality of this vessel that when asked, the captain took 2 of us out for an entire day to enable us experience the yacht first hand and get acquainted with the crew. We were impressed by the
quality and preparation of the cuisine that was served to us on board. We discovered that the cuisine on board FLAME equaled the top
power yachts in the world . We highly recommend the Flame as a perfect private yacht for a one week motor yacht vacation in The Virgin Islands.
You can view
the 65' Flame here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLsKoIltrLI
and at just $15,500 for a week long all-inclusive vacation for 6 adult guests, it is a steal.
After the
British Virgin Islands it is off to the wonderful United States Virgin Islands
and to inspect their power boats for the next year. Each year these 2 boats
shows alternate with their dates. When we walked on board the famous Flame vessel she was fully stocked with her magnificent Belgium chocolates. The captain on
board Flame family owns a Belgium chocolate factory, so guests are showered with chocolates while on board their motor yacht.
A week in the
beautiful Virgin Islands may not be long enough
to satisfy your need to see where mother nature combined coral
reefs and islands so close together. Foot print free beaches, gin clear water,
coconut palms and water sports to keep every child and adult happy. Scuba diving,
snorkeling, water skiing, kite surfing, paddle boarding and even ocean kayaks to
explore mangrove coves.
There are 32 islands and cays which form the
British Virgin Islands. Their beauty above all else is that these islands
are formed in a semi-circle which prevents the ocean swell from entering a 25 mile
by 5 mile which protects the area so motion problems are never a problem. A perfect aspect is that each island is within eye sight meaning your
private yacht can cruise from island to island in about 20 minutes. This is flat water even when the wind is blowing which is very unusual. You can cruise in your mega
yacht to out of the way hotels and 5 star hotels dotted
on various islands in the sun including two locations where you can find an
honor bar.
What is an
honor bar?
An honor bar is where you walk into a restaurant which is totally open during the day and not one person is in sight, where a fully stocked bar awaits quests for the evening meal and you are welcome to drink whatever you wish to drink. An example is Wilfred’s Restaurant, where when you are ready to go you leave the amount of USD on the table for the staff to find when they start their 4-11 shift . Wilfred’s is at Pomento Point on Anageda.

A second honor bar is at
Bira's Creek on a lovely beach facing east, this beach has water toys and coconut
palms and in one corner you will find an open round thatched cabana. Look behind the bar and
open the wooden refrigerators, there is almost any drink you can imagine. When you leave have your captain lead you on the beautiful walk to Bira's Creek Hotel to settle up.
Visitors
don't want miss going to the Soggy Dolla Bar during the day. You can order their now famous
“Pain Killer” or enjoy a night under the coconut palms at Foxy’s. I highly recommend taking a walk around Sandy Cay where this little uninhabited island
has thick under growth and leads up to a 75 foot cliff. So
take your camera, flip flops and bug spray as this is a side trip well worth taking.
Also, the visit the famous Baths and then you can take a short stroll from the Baths to Devil's Bay which is another 'must do' walk. Don't forget to take your camera and flip flops. Plus, if you have the time, visit The Bitter End Yacht Club and Caulaquon
Barrier Reef where you can snorkel with your motor yacht captain on the outside of this
barrier reef, not the simple side of this reef.
The
United states Virgin Islands has some wonderful anchorages but no where
near as many as the British Virgins. Cruise on board your motor yacht in the privacy with your family and friends to
Megan's
Bay. Megan's Bay was recently rated the 8th best bay in the world
by Conde Nest and it is simply gorgeous. Other bays to
visit while on your luxury yacht vacation are the Hawksnest Bay, Leinster Bay and Christmas Cove is a wonderful
bay to stop and enjoy.
True story
here: One evening we were sipping happy hour drinks on board our private yacht when we noticed what we thought was a
dog swimming directly out from St John. The
only island where the dog could be swimming towards would have been St Croix - located 33 miles away! Knowing we would feel terribly guilty if we did not try to save the
dog, we jumped into a tender and headed off in pursuit. Well, what we thought was a dog was not a
dog at all - is was a wild deer! We ended up getting the deer turned around in the right direction to be able to swim back to land. Once there, he wiggled his tail and quickly disappeared into the under growth of St John. Yes! There are
deer in the Virgin Islands.

Sail 4 Cancer Named as Event Charity
Sail 4 Cancer Named as Event Charity
22 April 2013, Fort Lauderdale, FL: The ISS (International Superyacht Society) is pleased to announce plans for its Annual UK-based ISS Regatta.
This year’s event will be held from June 7-9. Last year’s winner, BMT Nigel Gee will return to defend their title. With eight boats already confirmed, 12 to 15 are expected. Racers convene in Hamble on the evening of June 7th, spend the night on June 8th in Cowes and conclude racing on June 9th. Participating companies will rent one-design boats from Fairview and crew them with staff, vendors and clients.
The ISS Regatta has quickly grown into a great event for just-plain fun, networking and socializing. To further enhance participation, the Regatta also promotes a philanthropic directive: for 2013, Sail 4 Cancer has been named the Event Charity.
“We are delighted to be the official charity of the ISS Regatta. The superyacht industry has been very supportive of us as these companies understand how sailing can help people going through a very difficult time. All the money raised from the event will be used to arrange sailing days for the families we help. Cancer is a very cruel disease and has a devastating effect on everybody in the family. When the families are out on the Solent in a beautiful boat they enjoy just being a family doing something adventurous together and can leave the stress of cancer on land for a while” says Lizette van Niekerk, Fundraising Manager for Sail 4 Cancer.
